Insulated Top-Loading Cargo Box for Dodge RAM 1500

This insulated cargo box was engineered from scratch for the Dodge RAM 1500 (LD) with the 5'7" bed — a passive box that holds temperature without a refrigeration unit, for transport work where the load has to stay cold but a compressor, its power draw and its service schedule are not wanted.
The box is built from composite sandwich panels pressed in a vacuum process. That matters more than it sounds: vacuum pressing gives uniform bonding across the whole panel rather than at glue lines, so mechanical strength and insulation performance stay consistent over the service life of the unit instead of degrading where the layers meet. The outer skin is 1.5 mm WR-reinforced FRP laminate for impact resistance, UV stability and corrosion protection; the core is 40 mm rigid polyester foam.

Loading is from the top through two separate lids, so only half the box is opened at a time and the cold side stays shut — a real difference on a route with a lot of short stops. The upper surface is finished in anti-slip coating: moisture-resistant, wear-resistant and easy to wash down. Drainage outlets on both sides of the lower front section clear wash water and condensation.
The box drops into the bed rather than sitting on top of it. The wheel-arch cutouts are made to the RAM's bed geometry, so insulation stays continuous around the arches and no cargo volume is given away to a flat floor above them.
